DG's: a.k.a Discipleship Groups!
This just might be one of the most important web-pages you will ever visit.
If you are thinking of joining a DG, let me quote Pastor Jeff by saying... "YEEEEE HAAAAA!"
This is a great investment in your life and the lives of some soon to be close friends.
What is a Discipleship Group?
A group of available, faithful, teachable, and responsive 7th-12th grade students determined to grow in Christ-likeness and practically live out their faith. Discipleship Groups consist of 6-8 female or male students and one or two adult and/or student leaders. Groups meet weekly throughout the school year for Bible study, prayer, sharing, training, and fellowship.
Who should join a discipleship group?
- Only those students who seriously want to grow deeper in their faith.
- Only those who really want to serve Jesus.
- Only those who are willing to be held accountable and to hold others accountable in love.
- Only those who can really commit themselves to the group.
What commitments would I have to make?
- Regularly attend weekly meetings (lasting approximately 1 1/2 hours). Meeting dates and times are determined by consensus of each group.
- Willingness to support peers within the group through prayer, encouragement, reproof in love, etc.
- A diligent study of Christian growth disciplines and discipleship (including occasional homework assignments).
- Serving Midland Free and other organizations through service
projects (as a group).
Why do we have to have commitments?
- To have people of like mind together, committed to the same strategy and carrying it out the same way. And as a tool to help you discern whether or not God wants you to be involved.
- Please pray about your decision to commit to a Discipleship Group. It can be loads of fun as your group grows together, but it can also be very challenging.
